Facebook Alerts are available for any 3G plan, and allow you to stay connected through Facebook through your mobile.

When Facebook Alerts are successfully set up on your mobile, you can choose to receive a FREE SMS for each:
• Message
• Wall post
• Comment on your status, photos or notes
• Friend request
• Photo tag
• and Poke.

You can also reply to messages, posts and comments, update your status, send a message, search for someone or post to someone's wall through SMS. These are charged at the price of a standard SMS.

When you receive a message, you can also choose to follow a link to the Facebook site. Standard data costs apply for this action. 

If you're on a 3G capped plan, these charges will be included in your available spend. 

You can set up Facebook Alerts through one of two ways:

Via Mobile:       
1. SMS FB to 32665 (Standard SMS charge applies)
2. You will receive a reply message with a confirmation code and a link to Facebook mobile site (data charges apply to click the link)
3. Click link and login in to your Facebook account
4. Enter confirmation code and click Activate
5. You will receive a confirmation text
6. You can then update the SMS alert setting to select the type of SMS alerts that are sent & set SMS limits.

Via Web:
1. Login to Facebook and go to Account > Mobile, and click on Register for Facebook Messages.
2. SMS FB to 32665 (Std SMS charge applies)
3. You will receive a reply message with a confirmation code.
4. Go through step by step activation process.

How will I be charged?
To receive an SMS alert from Facebook is free.  If you reply to the alerts via SMS, your standard SMS charge applies. 
If you click a link in the SMS and access the Facebook mobile sites, data charges according to your plan will apply.
 
What is the Fair Go Policy for these services?
Our Mobile Fair Go Policy states a limit of 2000 SMS alerts per month from each of these services.  If you go over this amount will receive an SMS notifying of excessive usage. If this continues we may block you from receive social messaging services.

• Update Status [message]
Changes your status to the message entered.
Example: Update status is at jane's party

• Message [name] [message]
Initiates a message to that user on Facebook.
Example: message jane smith what's up

• Search [name]
Searches for a name on Facebook.
Example: search jane smith

• Mobile [name]
Searches for the mobile number of a friend on Facebook.
Example: mobile jane smith

• Wall [name] [message]
Posts a message to a friend's wall post.
Example: wall jane smith happy birthday

Facebook® SMS Alerts are free to receive.  Standard SMS charges of your plan apply to reply to any of the alerts.   Data charges according to your mobile plan apply to access the Facebook® mobile site from a link in the alert.  Facebook® SMS alerts service may be withdrawn at any time.  The Fair Use policy applies.  If you use the Facebook SMS alerts service whilst you are overseas, international roaming rates for SMS and data will apply.  We may suspend or cancel your service if you send inappropriate content or links, send spam or otherwise interfere with the service.  Facebook is a registered trademark of Facebook Inc
